ASQ LI Hall of Fame

Watch on Channel 55
11 PM Wed 12/16/09

ASQ LI established the “Quality Hall of Fame” in 2009 while celebrating its 50th anniversary. This is an honor granted to companies and their individuals who have significantly contributed to the success of Long Island through corporate, personal, educational and community involvement.

A “Quality Hall of Fame” committee has been established to nominate and select candidates to be approved and inducted into the Hall of Fame in two main categories: one for individuals and one for corporations. Companies or individuals must have a specific and direct tie to Long Island, NY. The companies or individuals nominated must have made a significant contribution to the field or promotion of quality concepts and principles.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Lupton Hall, Farmingdale State College.

Invited guests from ASQ and Farmingdale College will be present. We hope that this “Quality Hall of Fame” will be an example and an inspiration for those who have chosen to make the study of Quality a way of life.

Rick Calabrese,
Long Island ASQ Section 303 Chairman

Chair's Message

Wow! What a night! On Thursday, September 17th, 2009 the Long Island ASQ held its 50th anniversary celebration at the Milleridge Inn located in Jericho, NY. We could not have asked for a better night, weather wise, it was a beautiful, crisp early autumn night. The Milleridge Inn was a wonderful back drop for our gala event. It was very nicely decorated for the fall. The restaurant itself has a history dating back to 1672 which added to the charm of the location.

Many people came out to support us, which was very wonderful and exciting. We had many excellent speakers and extra activities like a raffle and silent auction that raised money for our scholarship fund. The food was good and the night was filled with people catching up or meeting for the first time, all because of our group's desire to bring Quality to Long Island during the past fifty years.

I would like to take this opportunity to hand out some special thanks:

  • First of all to the founders of the section, because without them we would not have this event after all.
  • Assemblyman Rob Walker from the 15th Assembly District who so eloquently addressed our ASQ audience.
  • The Seifer Family, Bruce, Marc, and Meri for coming to speak and represent the valuable work that their parents have done
  • Jack Campanella for his walking down memory lane, reminiscing about the section.
  • Dr. Sikorski and MaryEllen DeCicco from Farmingdale College for the support for our hall of fame
  • Our three companies recognized for quality, Deb Andree and Northrop Grumman, Rich Lombardi and Forest Laboratories, and JetBlue Airways.
  • The ASQ regional directors David Levy and Herb Goldstein for their kind words and support.
  • The past chairs and fellows for attending the event and sharing their memories.
  • The two winners of the section ASQ awards, Julie Salgo and Marty Aschner.
  • All our scholarship winners.
  • Sartorius Group North America for donating $1000 to the scholarship fund and Forest Laboratories for donating an additional $500.
  • All the people who provided raffle donations, James Anderson from Glaken's Bar and Grill, Bronx, NY, Estee Lauder and the Red Door Spa package provided by Andrea Isear.
  • The 50th anniversary gala committee, Andrea Isear, Julie Salgo, Mary Sansone, Mary Winch, Meegan Dowling, Kerry Donelan, Rich Lombardi, Brett Nielsen, Nela Arias, Mark Trotter, James Anderson and Rupal Doshi.
  • Last but not least I would also like to thank the entire board of the LI ASQ and their families that supported them so that we could have such an outstanding event.

Thank you all who attended. I hope that in fifty years there will be people remembering and recognizing our wonderful events and accomplishments at their dinner.

Rick Calabrese
