The 2nd ASQ-LI Lean Six-sigma
symposium will be held at Hofstra
University’s Cultural Center Theater
on September 26, 2008 from 8:30AM
to 2:30PM (please visit us at www.asqlongisland.org for more
details). The cost for attending the
symposium is $100; a continental
breakfast and lunch are included.
Lean Six Sigma, with its focus on
sustainability via improved process
efficiency and economic profit,
encourages executive management to
prioritize improvement projects
based on metrics that recognize the
alignment of stakeholder needs and
corporate priorities as defined by
an organization’s top management.
The symposium is expected to provide
our members and corporate associates
with useful information on
strategies adopted by practicing
Lean Six-Sigma professionals to
achieve successful process and
quality improvements.
The format of the symposium allows
success stories to be presented by
ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belts,
and Practicing Black Belts on
strategies and tools used to realize
LSS implementation and concomitant
bottom-line improvements in Health
Care, Process, Manufacturing, and
Service industries, including
government. The planned topics are:
Topic #1: The Lean Six Sigma
Improvement Process by Owen Ramsay,
BS, MS, CQE, CMQ-OE, CSSBB
Topic #2: A Lean 5S
application to an Administrative
(HR) Department by Kerry Donelan,
BA, MBA, CSSBB
Topic #3: Lean techniques
applied to Reduce Turn-around-time
and Cost of testing at a Laboratory
by Meegan Dowling, BS, CSSBB
Topic #4: A Lean Sigma
application in a Non-manufacturing
Environment by Joe Labas, BS, MS,
CSSBB
Topic #5: Lean Six Sigma to a
Semi-autonomous Government Service
Organization by Owen Ramsay, CQE,
CQM, CSSBB
Topic #6: Value Stream
Mapping fundamentals – a fun filled
activity by Carlyle Crothers, PE,
SSBB
Since most of the members attending
this symposium are practicing
quality professionals, the case
studies presented will hopefully
give each an insight on how to
better guide and support their
organization’s efforts on their Lean
Six-Sigma journey.
Please join us at Hofstra
University’s Cultural Center Theater
on September 26th at 8:00 am for the
Continental breakfast prior to
commencing the symposium.
Please call Rupal Doshi, ASQ-LI’s
